About Carmelina’s (Boston, MA)

Founded by Chef Damien DiPaola, the restaurant transitions traditional family recipes from his mother and father into a modern, open-kitchen dining experience. The menu features heavy Sicilian and Mediterranean influences, focusing on bold comfort food, abundant fresh seafood, garlic, tomatoes, and hearty portions often served piping hot right in the copper pans they were cooked in.

Important Restaurant Rules:

  1. No Coffee or Dessert: Carmelina’s does not serve coffee or dessert. They explicitly encourage guests to visit the local North End bakeries and gelaterias after their meal to experience the full neighborhood culture.

  2. Kitchen Appreciation Fee: A mandatory 3% kitchen appreciation fee is added to all checks, which goes directly to the back-of-house kitchen staff (separate from regular service tips).
